Rachel Bachmeier receives UW-Stout scholarship

Rachel Bachmeier of Long Prairie, Minn., 56347 received the Steiner/Milnes Scholarship; Bob Ward Endowed Photography Scholarship at a reception on campus Sept. 11. Bachmeier is majoring in graphic design and interactive media.

Scholarships valued at more than $675,000 were awarded to 375 University of Wisconsin-Stout students this year through the Stout University Foundation. Many of the scholarship donors and members of the board of directors personally presented the awards.

Established in 1962, the Stout University Foundation Scholarship Program has helped more than 8,000 students receive a college education. Through the financial support of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of the university the program has awarded more than $10 million over the years.

UW-Stout, Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, has more than 9,300 students in 45 undergraduate majors and 23 graduate majors, including one doctoral degree. UW-Stout, established in 1891, prides itself on the success of its students in the workplace, with a graduate employment rate at or above 97 percent for recent graduates. The university was awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award in 2001.
