Matthew Klopatek awarded scholarship

2014 Apr 15

Three University of Wisconsin-Stout supply chain management students, Matt Klopatek, Matt Wiegand and Matt Stamos, recently received regional and national scholarships in their field.

Klopatek, of Butternut, won a $1,000 scholarship from the Twin Cities division of the Council of the Supply Chain Management Professionals.

The scholarship is awarded to students in an accredited supply chain management program in the Midwest who have a high grade-point-average, participate in extracurricular activities, excel in supply chain-related courses, are recommended by a professor in their major and plan to pursue a career in supply chain management.

Klopatek graduates in May and already has accepted a job offer as a specialist in the sourcing and logistics department at Greenheck Fan Corp. in Schofield.

Wiegand, of Burnsville, Minn., and Stamos, of Lindstrom, Minn., won the Association for Operations Management scholarship, which provided them with the opportunity to attend the annual conference in Orlando, Fla.

The APICS scholarship included:

  • Payment of registration fees
  • Hotel accommodations
  • A $200 stipend
  • Reserved seating at general sessions and opportunities to meet speakers
  • A professional APICS member as a mentor
  • Networking events
  • Conference-geared student programs

"I also was able to win a team-building exercise while I was down there and got to meet the APICS organization president," Wiegand said.
