Heather Zibrowski receives Cooperative Education Meritorious Achievement Award

Heather Zibrowski, of Sparta , Wis., received the Cooperative Education Meritorious Achievement Award for 2012-13. Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen presented the awards at a recent ceremony on campus.

Zibrowski was employed by Next Step Ministries , in Madison, Wis.. Zibrowski, majoring in construction management, graduated from Sparta Senior High School.

The award is given to students who apply and are selected by the Cooperative Education Advisory Committee. Students are recognized for excellence and achievements in their cooperative positions, for contributions to their employers and for academic achievement.

Cooperative Education is a paid experience and an academic credit course for students to work with employers worldwide. They experience active learning in a setting where they can apply what they have learned in classes at UW-Stout. Many benefits are realized by students, employers and the university from a quality co-op experience.

In 2012-13, 940 UW-Stout students participated in Cooperative Education at more than 525 different employer sites, earning an average of $13.79 per hour. Wages paid to the 2012-13 co-op class totaled approximately $8.5 million.
